Pinky

(DJ3003)

S1: ATOM HEART MOTHER
S2: EMBRYO/INTERSTELLAR OVERDRIVE

SQ: GOOD

COMMENTS: A VERY RARE AND EARLY ENGLISH BOOTLEG FROM 1970. FOLLOWING SOME INFORMATION FROM THE ORIGINAL BOOTLEGGER, THE HISTORY OF THIS RELEASE (WHICH WAS ALWAYS SHROUDED IN UNCERTAINTY) IS NOW SOMEWHAT CLEARER....
ALL OF THE FIRST PRESSINGS OF PINKY (ABOUT 50) WERE PRESSED WITH PLAIN WHITE LABELS AND HOUSED IN PLAIN WHITE SLEEVES. THESE ARE EASILY RECOGNISED BY THE WORD 'PINKY' WRITTEN NEATLY IN THE TOP RIGHT HAND CORNER ON ALL COPIES. THE WHITE COVERS WERE SEALED ON THE LEFT HAND SPINE USING A CLOTH BASED STICKY TAPE WHICH HAS DARKENED OVER THE YEARS.THE MATRIX NUMBER WAS ON SIDE ONE ONLY (DJ3003A).
THE ORIGINAL MAKER IS CERTAIN THAT NO BLUE LABEL COPIES WERE DELIVERED FOR THE ORIGINAL RUN AND THEREFORE ASSUMES THAT THESE WERE PRESSED BY A THIRD PARTY AT THE SAME TIME OR SLIGHTLY LATER. AS THESE WERE NOT CALLED 'PINKY' IT MAKES SENSE THAT THE BLUE LABEL COPIES WHICH HAVE BEEN LISTED IN THIS GUIDE UNTIL NOW ARE WHERE OTHER TITLES HAVE BEEN USED - SEE EMBRYO-LIVE IN GERMANY - BIG PINK (UNTITLED) & ROTTERDAM 1970.
OF THE EXAMPLES SHOWN ABOVE, THE FIRST TWO ARE ORIGINAL AND UNALTERED. THE THIRD ONE HAS HAD THE ORIGINAL 'PINKY' COVERED, AND REPLACED WITH SOME HOMEMADE ARTWORK. THE 'INSERT' COVER EDITION (SECOND ROW) IS A DIFFERENT AND EQUALLY RARE PRESSING. THIS HAS THE MATRIX NUMBERS ON BOTH SIDES (DJ3003 A/B) AND DELUXE LABELS.

RARITY RATING:

YEAR OF RELEASE: 1970
